Silver Award

I am really very proud of TMC for achieving the Silver Eco Church Award. We have become increasingly aware of our responsibility to the planet and to each other and have worked hard to reduce waste, recycle, improve our energy efficiency and to raise awareness of the environmental challenges we face in our conversations and our services – particularly so in Breakfast Praise.

We are also starting a new group which will continue the work of raising awareness and encourage our working on Eco projects together both in the church and beyond, for more information on this, click here Viriditas .

The Universal Soul

As many of you are aware I lead a contemplative group called ‘Desert Soul’ where we explore the mystic impulse that is a compelling call for each of our members. We have recently been thinking about how contemplative practice can deepen our creative gifts or indeed open us up to new ones which can sometimes surprise us.

At our last meeting one of our members shared with us his first ever attempt at creative writing. He has given permission for me to share this stunning hymn here.

The Universal Soul

Ere the Fall, before the Serpent
Ere the Apple and its Tree,
Dwelt the Soul in perfect Oneness
Knowing only Unity.

Knowing neither MInd nor Reason
There the Soul in Thus-ness dwelt
Happy Soul, in perfect Union
Then no separation felt

Now alas! She is fragmented;
Now Her perfect Union gone.
Blood of Jesus! Re-unite Her
Lead her back whence She has come.

Where there is no sound of discord.
Where there is no ‘Your’s nor Mine’.
But the Soul, restored to Oneness
Rests in Unity sublime. © Tom Foxon 2019

Desert Soul

Desert Soul meets on Wednesday 5th June at 3.00pm in the Prayer Circle. Its been a while since I was last with you and I am very thankful to those who took on the leadership whilst I was away.

This week we will be taking a look at the stages of the mystic journey. These are variously described depending on different mystics but the stepping stones follow pretty much the same route.

At some point we will discuss ideas for our mini retreat which we could do in August…Please bring thoughts an ideas for this with you.

New comers always welcome. We meet on first and third Wednesdays at 3.00 but advisable to make contact with me first via Church contact page. Jayne

Breakfast Praise

Don’t forget breakfast praise this Sunday 2nd June 9.15 at Tewkesbury MC.

I am hoping that the weather will stay fine as we were planning to go on a nature trail down by the brook to see what God has been up to in nature over the Spring, as well as walking off our breakfast.

If it does rain we have a back up plan which involves finding the lost sheep…which come to think of it may be as messy as a nature trail by the brook.
